This week's show features the
Larry McKenna Quartet, with Larry on tenor sax, Tom Lawton on piano, Dylan Taylor on bass, and Craig McIver on drums. From his "All About Jazz" profile: "One of the world’s finest jazz saxophone players, Larry McKenna is known for his gorgeous tenor sax sound, the sheer beauty of his balladry, and his fluid, bebop-inspired improvisations."
This week's beneficiary will be
Musicopa, a non-profit that collects and supplies musical instruments for students in under-served areas. This show is sponsored by
Marc Bernstein - Financial Advisor.
This concert series was originally conceived of as a live-stream only series initiated by Barry Wahrhaftig of the
Hot Club of Philadelphia. The goal was to help musicians and non-players impacted by the COVID-19 shutdown. Moving the series to Awbury Arboretum allows the artists to play for live audiences. A portion of each show's proceeds is sent to local charities, including Philabundance and Jazz Bridge so far.
